SOUTH BEND - Mr. Arthur James McKnight passed from this life at Memorial Hospital on Monday, December 30, 2013, at 1:37 a.m. Arthur was born in Hayti, Missouri on October 5, 1964 to Allen and Laura (Carter) McKnight. In 1967 as a young child he moved to South Bend where he graduated from Washington High School. He received B.S. degree from Grambling State University of Louisiana and his favorite things to do were traveling and listening to gospel music and singing in the choir at Believers Church in Christ where he attended for many years and sang on his last night on earth and is now singing in heavens choir. He was employed for over 15 years by Comcast Cable Company and most recently was a sales associate for the Goodwill Company. He leaves with cherished memories from his mother Laura McKnight who raised him and birth mother Virginia Carter of Chicago, Illinois. He is also survived by aunts, Ruby Lee Patton, Vira May Carter, Betty Karinki and Irene Brazier; uncles, Billy Carter, Jimmy Carter and Charles Carter; and a special friend, Alan Minyard. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen McKnight. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Alford's Mortuary where arrangements have been entrusted, Superintendent S. L. Diggins officiating.
