SOUTH BEND -- Mrs. Constance Jean Maxwell , 44, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 18, 2006, in her home on South Pulaski Street.

Constance was born on May 2, 1962, to the late Sara M. Newsome and Eddie Newsome in Glendora, Mississippi. Constance moved to South Bend, IN, on August 11, 1969, coming from Glendora.

In June 1980 Constance graduated from Washington High School. Constance was united in holy matrimony to Herbert Lee Maxwell on July 12, 1981. She was the mother of three children. Constance confessed Christ as her personal savior at an early age. Constance was a member of the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Laneal Williams where she served on the Usher Board.

Constance was employed by First Source Bank for 18 years.

Constance leaves to cherish her loving memories her father, Eddie Newsome of Sumner, Mississippi; her husband, Herbert Maxwell of South Bend; two sons, William Avance of Indianapolis, IN, and Herbert Maxwell Jr. at home; three sisters, Ella M. Ross, Mattie (Troy) Malone and Otha (Earnest) Dixon, all of South Bend; two brothers, Eacer Newsome of Minter City, Mississippi, and Morris (Anne) Newsome of South Bend; mother-in-law, Lorene Maxwell of South Bend; five grandchildren, William Avance III, Tania Avance, Shamar Avance, all of Indianapolis, Alazia Maxwell and Syndi Maxwell , both of South Bend; a niece, Antionette Anderson; eight nephews, Rodney Ross, Kemonte Ross, Jermaine Newsome, Brandon Newsome, Antione Hamilton, Reggie Malone, Terrance Malone and Troy Malone Jr., all of South Bend.

She was also preceded in death by her mother, Sara M. Newsome; son, Micheal Andrew Maxwell ; grandparents, Eddie and Mary Ross; and by an aunt, Leatha M. Cain.

Funeral services for Constance Maxwell will be held at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 1122 E. Miner St., South Bend. Visitation from 11 a.m., services at noon on Saturday, Dec. 23.

The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
