David A. Banicki

David A. Banicki Sr.

September 30, 1961 ~ July 17, 2025 (age 63)

David A. Banicki Sr. 63, of Lapaz went home to Jesus surrounded by his loved ones July 17, 2025. Dave was born on September 30, 1961, in South Bend to Frank and Janis (Mezykowski) Banicki.

He married his best friend and soul mate, Angela “Angie” Wilson in 1989, sharing many beautiful memories over the last 36 years.  They attended Shiloh Wesleyan Church. Together they raised 4 children: Jennifer, Shawna, David Jr., and Sarah.

Dave was a kind and caring man with a fun-loving sense of humor. He loved camping with Angie and their family and had many adventures throughout the years. In 2019 he and Angie became seasonal campers at Pla-Mor Campground in Bremen along with his brother John and sister-in-law Margaret. He shared a passion with Angie for traveling, especially to the Smoky Mountains, as well as discovering treasures at antique shops and estate sales.

Earlier in his life, Dave owned Ray’s Golf Car in Plymouth. Dave retired from Black Squirrel Golf Course where he was superintendent for 13 years. He loved fixing things and was truly a mechanical genius. He used his talents to gladly help others any time he was asked. He also enjoyed target shooting and golfing. Additionally, Dave and Angie coached cornhole for Marshall-Starke Special Olympics and also worked part time together at Plymouth Motor Speedway. Most recently, Dave was serving as a North Township Trustee.

He is survived by his wife Angie; children Jennifer Banicki, Shawna (Kyle) Rupert, Sarah (Scott) Ryan, and David Banicki Jr.; his grandchildren Jaydee, Cloey, Gabriel, Dylan, Carah, Morgan, Zander, and Adelynn. Also surviving is his mother Janis “Jan” Banicki; siblings Sharon Banicki, Barbara VanDeGenahte, Ann Banicki, John (Margaret) Banicki, Ron (Kim) Banicki, and Dan (Kristie) Banicki, and sister-in-law Jo Banicki.  His loving and faithful cats Dixie and K also survive.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Frank; his brother, Tom Banicki Sr; and his brother-in-law, Robert (Rob) VanDeGenahte.

The family would like to thank the Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka for their love, grace and guidance in helping the family care for Dave in his home where he longed to spend his last days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka, Indiana or Shiloh Wesleyan Church in Plymouth, Indiana.

Visitation will be held at Shiloh Wesleyan Church, 10532 4B Road in Plymouth on Thursday July 24 from 1:00-3:00pm, with a Funeral service at 3:00 pm.
