RICHARD KAPISZKA SOUTH BEND, IN
Richard "Rick" Kapiszka, 57, passed away Friday, December 31, 2010 at his residence. Rick was born on October 7, 1953 in South Bend, IN to Vincent and Margaret (Volkmann) Kapiszka. He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Harry, who passed away in Germany as an infant. On October 9, 1994, he married Sandra Carbiener in Las Vegas, NV. She survives along with his children: Carie (Chris) Hickey of South Bend and Richard Owen Kapiszka of South Bend; two grandchildren: Caitlin and Megan; mother, Margaret Kapiszka; two brothers: Eugene (Judy) Kapiszka of Orlando, FL and Robert (Jacqueline) Kapiszka of South Bend; and his aunt, Agnes Pietryga of South Bend. Rick had a lifelong career in education. He served several positions including Superintendent of the Catholic Schools and Principal of Rivet Jr/Sr High School in Vincennes, IN. Rick was also Principal and Assistant Principal in several other Indiana schools. Rick was a past School Board member in South Bend. Visitation will be from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road where a Rosary will be prayed. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
