John W. Jasinski
September 25, 1954 ~ March 1, 2025 (age 70)
John W. Jasinski passed away in Memorial Hospital on Saturday, March 1, 2025 with his beloved IU basketball playing in the background and his brother, Joseph, at his side.
John was born on September 25, 1954 to Jan and Maria (Bohdan) Jasinski. He is preceded in death by his father Jan Jasinski and his brothers-in-law Vincent Slaby and Richard Navalance.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother Maria Jasinski, his sisters Helen Slaby, Sophia Navalance of Massachusetts, his brother Joseph Jasinski, and his nieces MaryJane Slaby (Dustin Dopirak) of Indianapolis, Erica Navalance of New Orleans, Dana (Michael) Fahey of Connecticut, Liz Jasinski of Los Angeles and Emerson Auth-Jasinski.
John was a 1976 graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington with a BS in Accounting and earned his CPA the same year. He was a big fan of everything IU, especially basketball. He listened to or watched all of their games, through wins and losses. In his younger years, John bowled in a PNA bowling league, played tennis and enjoyed a good game of Euchre; all of which he considered himself a strong competitor. In his later years, he was an avid bike rider and loved to tinker with cars. His family will remember John for his wit and his care for animals. He could be seen “catching rays” in the backyard on a beautiful sunny day. He had a commitment to a signature look of light gray sweatpants, a polo shirt and aviator sunglasses.
John’s deep love of family was unwavering through his life’s journey. The love he had for his mother was devout. He was close with his brother Joe when they were growing up. His sisters nagged him throughout his life but he laughed, shrugged his shoulders and said “family.” It was evident he appreciated his sister Helen’s consistent care in his last weeks. He was so proud of all his nieces and their accomplishments. The memories of all his childhood friends from Saint Adalbert School, Washington High School and the neighborhood were long cherished.
John was a good and caring person to his core, never a bad word about anyone. He never gave up on life and lived.

I am the captain of my soul.”
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and aides in the hospital for the care and compassion shown to John.
