Richard "Rick" E. Paulin, Jr.

Richard E. Paulin, Jr., 71 years old, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at his residence in Mishawaka. Rick was born May 14, 1951 in Anderson, IN to the late Richard E. and Mary (Hester) Paulin, Sr.

On November 13th 1976 in South Bend, Rick married the love of his life, Susan Ritschard, who survives. Along with his loving wife, Sue, he is survived by his son, Nate (Leslie) Paulin; and his grandsons, Silas, Reese and Isaac Paulin.

Rick made a living as a heavy equipment operator in his early years, before starting a lawn care business that he ultimately retired from several years ago.

Rick was a perfectionist and would never settle for mediocrity. He had an extreme amount of patience and would spend endless amounts of time to achieve perfection. He could fix and work on just about anything.

Rick had a passion for motorcycles and cars. He was a homebody and loved working in the yard and keeping his place tidy. He spent a lot of his free time treasure hunting, he loved adding to his many collections and repurposing/restoring antiques. He did enjoy traveling to the Caribbean and the tropical lifestyle. He was a margarita connoisseur and enjoyed the finer things in life.

Rick was beloved by family, friends and all that knew him. His grandsons affectionately refer to him as not grandpa or papaw, but Donut Hole. He will be dearly missed.

Visitation for Rick will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Monday, July 18, 2022 in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with the funeral service to follow at 6:00pm at the funeral home chapel. The family will be hosting dinner and drinks immediately following services at the American Legion Post 357, 5414 W. Sample St. South Bend, IN 46619
