David Ernest Parker
January 5, 1951 ~ June 21, 2019 (age 68)
David E. Parker, 68, passed away on Friday afternoon, June 21, 2019 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN. He was born on January 5, 1951 in South Bend, Indiana, to Robert and Ida (Jones) Parker, both of whom preceded him in death.
On May 27, 1977 in South Bend, David married the former Patricia “Patty” A. Brown, who survives. In addition to his loving wife of 42 years, David is survived by daughter, Heather (John) VanWagner of Raleigh, NC; sons, Matthew (Kelly) Parker of Alexandria, VA, and Joshua (Teara) Parker of Enid, OK; grandchildren, Cora Parker, Luke Parker, Landon VanWagner, and a granddaughter due in November; sister, Doris Sparks of Nashville, IN; brothers, Ed Parker of Mishawaka, and Frank (Sylvia) Parker of Virginia; and David’s beloved dog, “Irish.”
David received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. He was employed as an engineering technician at Honeywell. In addition to being a member of St. Mark’s Missionary Church in Mishawaka, David served as a former board member of Prairie Camp of the Missionary Church—North Central District. He most recently served as an usher for Notre Dame events.
He was dearly loved by his wife, children, little grands, and most people who met him.
A memorial service for David will be held at 7:00pm on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Pastor John Gregory will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00-7:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
