William Donald Ross Brockie

Recently bestowed the title of Lord William (Bill) DR Brockie, Parish of Dunfermline, aged 64, of South Bend passed away on December 16, 2021, at the Raclin House Center for Hospice, after a 2 year battle with Stage 4 Renal Cancer. William was born July 1,1957 in Mishawaka, Indiana to William George Ross Brockie and Iris Carolyn Beveridge. He attended Washington High School from 1971 to 1975 and graduated from Grace Baptist School in 1975. He was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Army at the rank of PV1 from the 1st Battalion, 2nd BCT.

Bill worked as a Master Electrical Contractor for over 30 years in the area and was also a Master Mechanic for the City of South Bend prior to that. Bill was a former Pipe Major of the Caledonia Kilty Band in Mishawaka, as well as a Freemason. He became a member of the American Legion Riders Army Post 357 in 2019. He was also a proud member of the Mentone Flying Club and had been working on his pilot’s license prior to his diagnosis. He was also an avid and enthusiastic late-night baker. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia K. Brockie, and his father William GR Brockie. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Brockie, his children Josh and Kristina Orlea of Cincinnati, Dave and Taylor Bell of Elkhart, William and Brittany Brockie of South Bend; Grandchildren: Zack Orlea, Logan and Hayden Brockie, Wyatt Bell, and Lucas Karabalaeali. He is also survived by his siblings: Carolyn Emmons, Cheryl Borowski, Robert Brockie, Kathy Romano, and Jennifer Ross; his mother Iris C Beveridge, many nieces and nephews, and his favorite child, Parker.

Bill was known as the family Historian, the glue that held us all together. He was responsible for discovering extended family in Scotland, England, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, finding each other and keeping connected. He will be truly mourned the world over.
