Donald Thompson

August 28, 1953 ~ September 22, 2021 (age 68)

Donald “Gunny” Thompson passed from this earth on Wednesday September 22, 2021 at his home in South Bend, Indiana.

Donald was born to the late Ardella Smith Mobley and the late Arthur Nathan Thompson in New Rochelle, NY on the 28th of August 1953. 

Donald moved to South Bend, Indiana in 1969, and after Graduating from Washington High School he joined the United States Marine Corp. Upon an honorable discharge and a period of time he joined the United States Army. Donald always expressed that his years spent serving in the military were the happiest days of his life.

Donald was preceded in death by his mother; Ardellla Smith Mobley, his father Arthur Nathan Thompson, and step-niece Francis Levine. 

He leaves to cherish his memory; a son Raumando (Benae) Thompson of Midway,GA , whom he would look foward to talking to at least 2-3 times a week about his family and career as a State Trooper, a  daughter Jamaica Ferguson of Augusta, GA , three granddaughters A’Dayshae Turman (25), Renee (18) , London (12) , and two grandsons Demetrius Simmons (20) , and Jayce Hazel (7). He was also blessed with one great-granddaughter Jordyn Kennedy (4 months). Also left is two sisters Yvonne (Reverend Lawrence Levine Sr,) of Detroit, MI , Yvette(Jim) Johnson of South Bend, IN and a brother Daryl L. Thompson of Rahma, New Mexico. He also leaves a special parent Hazel Thompson and stepbrother Rowland Thompson both of Montezuma, GA. Donald is beloved by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. TAKE YOUR ETERNAL REST
