Clara Marie Miller (Loring) - Class Of 1952 VIEW PROFILE

Clara Marie Loring

December 27, 1934 – July 8, 2021

Clara Marie Loring of Mishawaka, Indiana peacefully passed Thursday, July 8, 2021 at the age of 86.  She was born in Mishawaka on December 27, 1934 to Alice Prudence (Dooms) and Steve Frank Miller, both of whom preceded her in death.

 

               Clara was raised in South Bend, Indiana and attended St Joseph’s Academy and graduated from Washington High School in 1952. She was very active in high school where she was the only female class officer, co-editor of the yearbook, Panda Club treasurer and National Honor Society her junior and senior years.  Clara was an excellent typist, speller, and shorthand secretary, accepting a position with Associates and later with Bendix Engineering Department.

 

               On May 18, 1963 Clara married the love of her life John V. Loring in St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, South Bend.  They were inseparable until his death in 2018.  Together they had two children, Kathleen (Patrick) Scheets and Thomas (Jody) Loring.  She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Julie (Jon) Bisceglia, Jonathan Scheets, Katie Loring and Christopher Loring and one great-grandchild, Jenna Bisceglia.  Clara is survived by her brother Don (Margaret) Miller, her cousins Chuck (Marita) Dome and Anne Sondegard along with many nieces and nephews.

 

               Clara loved bowling with her lady friends, going out to eat with anyone, wintering in Texas, serving on high school reunion committees, fighting for women’s rights, vacationing with her cousins, rooting on the Chicago sports teams and eating cake from Fobe’s West End Bakery.  She was heavily involved in Mishawaka Schools serving as Room Mom for her children’s classrooms and PTA.  Clara and John enjoyed traveling together with their friends all over the world but loved spending time with their family and each other most of all.

 

               Clara’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 14 at 11:00 am in Hahn Funeral Home 505 W. 8th Street Mishawaka, with visitation one - hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka, IN.   The family requests In lieu of flowers, Clara would appreciate donations be made to St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.07/10/2021 JFC
