Kathleen A. Peterson

SOUTH BEND - South Bend - Kathleen A. Peterson, 72, was the first born of six children to the late Frederick O. Walters and Dorothy E. (Buysse). She was preceded by her first husband, Gene Wilcox; son Brian Wilcox; and brother, David Walters.

Kathleen is survived by her husband James E. Peterson, and her children by marriage, Amy, Gary, Jim, and Andrea; four grandchildren; brother, George Walters; sisters, Carolyn Chasteen, Elizabeth Hawkins, and Laura Walters.

Kathleen was employed by the Hall of Cards and Books, starting at LaSalle Square as a clerk. She then became manager at the North Village Mall location. Kathleen finished her career as a buyer/operations manager at the main office.

Kathleen was always interested in sewing and needle work, as a self-taught knitter, she made and donated over 2000 pairs of mittens to local schools. In her later years she took great pleasure in quilting.

The best times of all were the times she and Jim traveled across the country, Alaska to Florida, Maine to California. They saw and did so much.

Per Kathleen's wishes there will be no services. ST JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. is assisting the family.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Saint Joseph County Public Library, WNIT, St. Margaret's House, or the Center for Hospice Care.
