Judy A. Leatherman, 72, passed away March 6, 2021 at the Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka. She was born August 18, 1948 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Harry & Druscilla Baer.
On July 12, 1980 she married Dennis D. Leatherman; he survives along with a brother, Bud Baer, two nieces, and numerous cousins. Also surviving are her college roommates and closest friends, Sheila Clark, Susan Sipotz, Patricia Straub, Peg Susor, and Bonnie Zeeb along with numerous other painting friends and teaching associates.
Judy received her undergraduate degree in 1970 from Bowling Green University in Ohio and her master's degree from I.U.S.B. She was an educator at Washington High School for over 35 years where she taught many different classes. Judy was a member of First United Methodist Church of South Bend where she was a board member and even in the Bell Choir. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, painting, quilting, cooking, and tending to her cats.
Burial will be held privately at Prairie Street Cemetery. A celebration of life gathering will be held this summer at the home of her and Dennis.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County or to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Indiana-Michiana.
