Ronald J.Steiner, 65, of South Bend, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, Dec.23, in Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center. Ron was born on March 12, 1938, in South Bend, to the late Joseph and Harriet (Szymanski) Steiner, and was a lifelong area resident.He graduated from Washington High School in 1956.

On Jan.5, 1963, in St.Stephen’s Catholic Church, he married Marlene Kaczmarek, who preceded him in death on Oct.5, 2000.

Ron is survived by his daughter, Susan (Ron) Van Tornhout of South Bend;his two sons, Scott and Todd Steiner, both of South Bend;two granddaughters, Emily and Allison Van Tornhout;his sister, Patricia (Don) Laskowski of South Bend and by his mother-in-law, Marie Kaczmarek of South Bend.

In 1992 he retired from Bendix/Allied Signal after 35 years of service. Ron was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church, a member of the Michiana Steelheaders, and volunteered for Special Athletes.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today, Dec.28, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N.Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.Monday, Dec. 29, in Holy Family Church, with burial to follow at St.Joseph Cemetery, South Bend Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family School, 56407 Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46619
