He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966-1968. Chuck dedicated 21 years of his life in service to the citizens of our community as a South Bend Police Officer. Chuck was Chief of Police from 1984-88 and again in 2012. He spent 18 years on the Notre Dame Police Department. Chuck enjoyed the friendships made with students, faculty, and staff. Most important was the spiritual advice he was afforded by many Holy Cross priest friends he made.

Most importantly, he was a loving husband to Joan for 52 years and extremely proud of his five children and their spouses.
