Nov. 9, 1946 – Nov. 14, 2003

Eugene “Gene” Cenova, 57, passed away of natural causes on Friday morning, Nov.14, in Hospice House of St. Joseph County.

On June 4, 1966, he married the former Nancy Zmudzinski, who survives. He is also survived by four sons, Mike (Ruth), Mark, James (Heather) and Jeffrey (Laurie). Also left to cherish his memory are five grandchildren, Alex, Logan, Sophia, Joseph and Anna. His proud parents, Leonard and Marilyn, along with brothers, Lee (Loveda) and Greg (Judy), also survive.

Gene was a 1964 graduate of Washington High School. Upon graduating, he joined the United States Marine Corps. After receiving his honorable discharge from the service, Gene returned to South Bend, Ind., to start his family. Many will remember him as a little league coach at Mishawaka North Side Little League. His other hobbies included woodworking and arts and crafts. Most of all he enjoyed his lifelong work as a diesel mechanic.

All are welcome with the family today, Nov. 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, Ind. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger, Ind. Burial will follow the Mass at St.Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of St.Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
