Tamara L. Reaves (Young), 77, of Niles, Michigan passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, after living more than ten years with Alzheimer’s disease.

Tamara was born to the late Marvin and Ramona Reaves on March 23, 1948, in South Bend, Indiana. She graduated from Washington High School in 1966, and studied at Ball State University. On February 14, 1970, she married the late Phillip Young. After their marriage, the couple began their lives together in Landstuhl, Germany, where Phil was serving in the U.S. Army. Upon returning to the States, they lived briefly in Algonac, Michigan, and lived for 10 years in Knox, Indiana, before settling in Niles until Phil’s passing in 2022. After Phil’s passing, Tammi spent her final years at a wonderful memory care facility in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

Tammi worked as an administrative assistant at Knox (IN) United Methodist Church, Pawating Hospital Emergency Room, and First Presbyterian Church before finishing her career at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles. Tammi enjoyed reading, music, and her beloved pets.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Phil, and her cousin David (Carolyn) Talboom.

She is survived by her son Graham (Shelly) Young, and daughters Jessica Dellinger and Ashley (Damian) Dockery, as well as her sister-in-law Susan (Jim) Gourlay. She also is survived by her four grandchildren, Liam and Gavin Dockery, and Ramona and Ava Young; her four step-grandchildren, Zoe, Grace, AJ, and Sawyer; nephews Tim (Nancy) Gourlay and Darrin (Amy) Gourlay; three great nephews and a great niece; and her cousins with whom she shared a close bond, Mark (Kimberly) Reaves, Bruce (Jan) Reaves, and Susan (George) Whiting.

Donations in Tammi’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. A private service will be held at a later date.
