William Allen Michalak
William "Bill" Allen Michalak, 75, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024 in IU Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. Bill was born on November 29, 1948 in South Bend to the late Harry and Lillian (Kush) Michalak. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Randall & Andrew Michalak.
Left to cherish the memory of Bill is his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia Anne (Wesolowski) Michalak; son, William “Bill “(Beth) Michalak; three grandchildren; brother, Bob (Fran) Michalak; and a sister, Ann (Tim) Horn.
Bill graduated from Washington High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Bill was a member of the American Legion Post 284/VFW 9820 and served on the Honor Guard. Over the past few years, he arranged and participated in many veterans’ honors. Local funeral homes knew they could always count on Bill. He received the Quilt of Honor on March 25, 2023. Bill was very active in his community, incredibly empathetic and kind.
Bill was the owner of South Bend Chimney for 33 years. He was a faithful Chicago Bears and Notre Dame fan. Bill loved to salmon and blue gill fish. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, crossword puzzles, and reading the daily newspaper. Bill was an amazing father and grandfather. He coached his sons though little league and loved spending time spoiling his grandson, Jett. Bill will be forever remembered, loved, and greatly missed.
Visitation will be 11:00am-1:00pm on Friday, June 21, 2024 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, Mayflower Rd., with Prayers and Military Honors to begin at 1:00pm. Online condolences can be made at sjfh.net.
