Dennis "Gary" Hageniers, a beloved father, grandfather, cousin, and friend, passed away on July 12, 2025, in Osceola, IN. Born on December 22, 1948, in South Bend, IN, Gary lived a rich and fulfilling life marked by dedication, camaraderie, and a deep love for the simple pleasures that life had to offer.

Gary, the son of the late Edward Hageniers and Evelyn (Jim) (Traskowski) Sawyer, grew up with a passion for learning and excellence. He graduated from South Bend Washington High School in 1966 and then furthered his education by earning an associate's degree, demonstrating his commitment to education and personal growth. Following his academic achievements, Gary served his country as a United States Navy veteran, a period in his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and pride that he carried throughout his life.

Professionally, Gary was known for his tenure as a computer analyst tech at Cook Nuclear Plant, where he diligently applied his skills and expertise for many years. Colleagues respected him for his work ethic and his ability to tackle complex problems with a clear mind and patient demeanor.

Gary's zest for life was apparent through his diverse interests. He was an avid fisherman who took great pleasure in casting his line into the St. Joseph River, finding a sense of peace and contentment with every visit. Gary also had a talent for constructing detailed model military tanks and planes, showcasing his patience and meticulous nature. Moreover, he was an enthusiast of scuba diving, an activity through which he explored the depths and marvels of underwater worlds.

Gary's memory lives on through his loving family, including his son Kristian Hageniers; his daughter-in-law Robin Havens; his treasured grandchildren Connor, Robert, Tessa, and Korbin Hageniers; and his cousins John (Kimberly) Greenlee, Davis Greenlee, and Lily Greenlee. Gary also leaves behind Tom Mulligan, his best friend, who shared many of life's adventures and quiet moments with him.

A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 1-2 p.m. with a memorial service and military honors beginning at 2 p.m. All being held at Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. Mishawaka, IN 46545.

Memorial contributions can be made in Gary’s name to the National Rifle Association (NRA), 11250 Waples Mill Road Fairfax, VA 22030.
