Carolyn Ann Griffin

July 13, 1948 - October 30, 2006

Carolyn Ann Griffin, 58, transitioned on Monday, October 30th, 2006, after 10 courageous years of battling cancer.

Carolyn was born on July 13th, 1948, to Jessie and Corine Griffin in Marigold, MS. Carolyn Griffin graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor of science degree in early elementary education in 1974. Teaching was her pride and joy and that is what she excelled in. Carolyn substituted for numerous years in South Bend, Indiana, before finding a career as a claim manager at Traveler's Insurance and lastly as a subrogation specialist for Broadspire Insurance. Carolyn was a woman of kindness, humility and generosity, and a woman who gave unconditional and genuine love to all the people who she knew to the very end. Carolyn shared her willingness and humility to the community when she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., South Bend Alumnae chapter in 1975. Carolyn painstakingly worked as an election judge, was active with the Bolingbrook High School Parent Booster Club, and the Kentucky State University Parent Association. Carolyn also believed in continuing education and began to pursue her real estate license in 2005.

Carolyn confessed and showed her love for Christ at a young age, and she sung for many years in the choir of Second Baptist Church under Reverend Daniel Davis in South Bend. Jubilee Baptist Church was her most recent church home under Pastor John Byrd where she sung in the choir and was active in the Single Ministry.

Preceding Carolyn in death were her father, Jessie Griffin; brother, Ernest Trull; sister, Melvina Price; and nephew, Gilbert Price.

She leaves to cherish her memory her three beautiful sons, Emery Joseph, Michael Joseph and Mark William; her mother; Corine Griffin (South Bend, Indiana); sister, Marilyn Davis (South Bend, Indiana); two brothers, Jesse Vernon Griffin (Louise) and Adrian D. Griffin; and a vast amount of relatives, family and friends.

Funeral services for Carolyn Griffin will be Saturday, November 4, 2006, in the New Life Fellowship Ministry, 2301 West Dubail, South Bend. Visitation, noon; funeral services, 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.

The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
