Richard John Zurat

SOUTH BEND Richard J. Zurat, 64, of Scenic Drive, died at 4:25 a.m. Thursday in his home after an illness. Mr. Zurat retired from Joy Manufacturing Co., Michigan City, and was an employee of Whispering Pines Golf Course. He was born Nov. 14, 1930, in LaPorte, and lived in South Bend 63 years, coming from LaPorte.

He married Patricia A. Bartoszek. She survives with four daughters, Michelle Niespodziany, Rosanne Zurat and Jane Szlanfucht, all of South Bend, and Joan Melser of Bremen; six grandchildren; and three sisters, Irene Grzsegorek of South Bend, Phyllis Jacobs of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Evelyn Taller of Elkhart.

He was a member of Whispering Pines Men's Club. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Family Catholic Church.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in St. Joseph Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc. or to American Cancer Society
