David A. Wells Nov. 16, 1931 - Sept. 18, 2014 NEW CARLISLE - David A. Wells, 82, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014, in the Hamilton Grove Nursing Facility, New Carlisle. David was born November 16, 1931, in Fargo, North Dakota, to the late Roy and Irene (Felde) Wells. David was also preceded in death by his son, John P. Wells, and a sister, Patricia Mullin.

Survivors of David include his children, Dale A. Wells, Roy M. Wells, Greg (Janet) Wells, Kathryn Wells, Julia I. (Thomas) Johnson, all of South Bend, and David A. Wells, Jr. of Niles; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brother, Michael (Alice Kay) Wells of South Bend; a sister, Susan Fairchild of Madison, IN; and a brother-in-law, James Mullin of Huntsville, AL.

David honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a proud graduate of Purdue University where he earned his master's degree in mechanical engineering. David was employed with the City of South Bend, the City of Plymouth, and the Bendix Corporation Aerospace Division. He served as Chairman of the Board for Transpo. David was a member of the Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Michiana Male Chorus, and a member of the American Legion Post 284.

There will be a visitation for David on Saturday, September 27, 2014, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 225 Haney Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 am in the church. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., is assisting the family. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
