Natalie “Nettie” (Nowik) Vanderheyden
SOUTH BEND - Natalie “Nettie” Vanderhyeden, 86, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Natalie was born May 11, 1931 in South Bend to the late Michael and Antonia (Kaminski) Nowik. Natalie was also preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Kwasniewsk; and sister, Frances Dembinski.
On February 5, 1955 in St. Adalbert's Catholic Church, Natalie married her loving husband, Paul Vanderheyden; he survives along with their children, Judy (Patrick) Adamo of Osceola and Greg (Becca) Vanderheyden of South Bend; grandchildren, Austin (Sarah), Christopher (Erin), Daniel, Amanda (Rex) Gard, and Adam; great-granddaughters, Isabella and Eveline; and sister, Ann Marek.
Natalie was an accounting specialist with the Bendix Corporation for 30 years; she retired in 1988. Natalie was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Allied Signal Retirees Club, the Daughters of Isabella, and the Golden Clusters St. Hedwig. She enjoyed cooking, bowling, playing Suduko, and was an avid Notre Dame & Purdue fan. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Natalie will be held 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, March 21, 2018 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., with a Rosary to be prayed at 4:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Thursday, March 22, 2018 with one hour of visitation prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
