Alice V. “Elsie” (Lykowski) Smith

SOUTH BEND - Alice V. "Elsie" Smith, 84, of South Bend, passed away on Thursday in her son's home. She was born on October 23, 1929, in South Bend, to the late Joseph and Valentina (Karpinski) Lykowski and was a lifelong area resident. On June 13, 1953 she married Richard E. Smith, who preceded her in death on December 19, 2011. She was also preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.

Alice is survived by her son, Richard M. (Laura) Smith of South Bend; two grandchildren, Robin (Alfredo) Dominguez and Luke Smith; a great grandson, Benito; her sister, Helen VanAutreve of South Bend; and by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Smith worked for Notre Dame for 7 years and enjoyed oil painting and golf.
