SOUTH BEND Stephen F. Keresztesi. 73. of South Bend. Ind.. passed away on Monday, Dec. 13. 2004, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center of South Bend. Stephen was born on July 1.7. 1931, in South Bend, to the late Frank and Margaret (Szalay) Keresztesi. He retired from Garden City Fan. in Niles, as a draftsman and was previously employed with Wheelabrator-: Frye Inc.

On Feb. 19. 1955, in South Bend, Stephen married Helen M. Stankiewicz, who survives. Surviving with his wife of 49 years are his four daughters Debbie (Mark) Heeter. of Dowagiac. Cheri (Tim) Mitchell of Sister Lakes, Jennie (Rich) Kowalski of Sister Lakes, Lynnel Kiely of Chicago; his son, Stephen Keresztesi of Dowagiac: and nine grandchildren Aaron and Bruce Heeter, Ryan, Jonathan, Jenna, and Caroline Mitchell, Kyle, and Katie Kowalski, ' and Sadie Keresztesi.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Parish Rosary will be at 4:30 p.m. The family will also receive friends from 11. a.m. to noon on Friday, Dec. 17, at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at Christ the King Catholic Church. South Bend. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors.

Mr. Keresztesi was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, the American Legion. and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid Notre Dame fan, and enjoyed entertaining family and friends at Sister Lakes. He also enjoyed dancing and gardening. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association of St. Joseph County, United Health Services, 711 E. Colfax Ave., South Bend, Ind. 46617
