Alan Robert Starkweather, 72, passed away peacefully at his residence on May 12, 2025, in Rockville, Maryland. Alan was born in South Bend, Indiana, on February 21, 1953, to Edward William Sr. and Helen Kujawski Starkweather. He is survived by his loving wife; Weiqin Zhao Starkweather; His son, Jason (TJ) Starkweather; Daughter, Amy (Jim) Mounts; His stepson, Tom Yan (Jolin) Liu; His grandsons Skylar (Taylor) Mayes, Spencer and Mason Mounts;, and Anton Liu, and his great granddaughters Juniper and Matilda Mayes.

The youngest of seven siblings, Alan was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Ralph Starkweather and Eddie (Dawn) Starkweather. Surviving siblings include Janet (Tim) Grueger, Sharon Hammond, Jerry (Paula) Starkweather, and Carl (Tonya) Starkweather.

Alan was also preceded in death by his first, beloved wife Margaret, with whom he will be laid to rest.

Alan built a distinguished career at United Parcel Service, where he served as the regional senior automotive and engineering manager until his retirement in 2012. Known for his diligence, integrity, strong work ethic, and quick wit, he earned the admiration and respect of colleagues and peers alike, while making lifelong friends.

In retirement, Alan embraced a fulfilling life enriched by his many talents. A true jack of all trades, he was an avid fisherman and skilled in car mechanics, handyman work, and metal arts and crafts. He took great pride in using his skills to help others, always ready to lend a hand or offer thoughtful advice. His warm smile, gentle heart, and ever-present support touched the lives of all who knew him.

Alan had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing, and enjoyed daily walks with his beloved dog, Pronto, who was always by his side. His sense of humor brightened every gathering, and his generous spirit brought people together.

A celebration of Alan’s life will take place in his hometown of South Bend, Indiana followed by private burial in the summer.
