Nancy Ann Vargo

Feb. 25, 1947 - May 13, 1998

Nancy Ann Vargo, 51, of Kathy Drive, South Bend, Ind., died at 7:35 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, in a car/train accident at the Grandview Avenue Conrail Crossing. She was born on Feb. 25, 1947, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

Miss Vargo was a 1965 graduate of Washington High School where she was an avid volleyball player. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Memorial Hospital and Real Services. She is survived by her mother, Alice (Cseresznyak) Vargo of South Bend; a sister, Janice Elzeer of South Bend; two brothers, Stephen (Patricia) Vargo of Osceola, Ind., Andrew (Denise) Vargo of Mishawaka, Ind.; and by five nephews and a niece.

Miss Vargo was preceded in death by her father, Stephen J. Vargo, who died in 1972; a sister; and by her brother-in-law, Sam Elzeer.

Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday in St. Matthew Cathedral. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
