Sheila Jean O'Dell, age 80, passed away surrounded by love and family. Born on April 11, 1944, to her devoted parents, John and Beverly (Loutzenhiser) Wincek. She grew up on the west side of South Bend on Crumstown Highway, until her family moved to Washington St when the bypass came through.

She was a member of the first graduating class of the new Washington High School in 1962. Sheila carried her passion for learning and service into her professional life as a graduate of Memorial Nursing School in 1965 and with a bachelor’s degree from St. Francis in 1993. Her career was not just a job but a calling, as she nurtured countless lives with her kindness and medical expertise.

Sheila’s heart found its true companion in Gary O'Dell, whom she married at Holy Family in South Bend on August 26, 1967, after a charming double date arrangement. The love they shared blossomed into a beautiful family, including daughter Amy (Thomas) Rowell and son Aaron (Tonya) O'Dell. Her joy multiplied as she became the cherished grandmother of Nicholas and Emily Rowell, Abigail (Austin)Tranberg, and Adam and Jacob O'Dell, and a great grandmother to Emma Lynn Tranberg.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Lou Wincek, and sisters, Nancy Shultz and Peggy Flowers.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Eric Wincek, and her sister Barbara Jean Wincek.

Sheila's warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support will forever be missed, yet her spirit will continue to embrace and inspire future generations.
