David F. Walters

SOUTH BEND, IN - David Walters, age 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. David was born in South Bend, IN to Frederick & Dorothy (Buysse) Walters and was a lifelong area resident.

David was preceded in death by both his parents. David is survived by his children, Geoffrey Walters of South Bend, IN and Justin (Robin) Walters of Osceola, IN; siblings, Kathleen (James) Peterson of South Bend, Carolyn (Randy) Chasteen of Lawrenceburg, IN, Elizabeth (Tim) Hawkins of South Bend, Laura Walters of Salida, CA, and George (Suanne) Walters of South Bend; 12 nieces and nephews, a host of great-nieces and nephews; and his grandchildren, Hayden and Wyatt Walters whom he loved very much.

David graduated from Washington High School class of 1968 and worked in various careers throughout his life, most notably as a paramedic for McGann's and as an Installation Tech for Indiana Security, then for Per Mar Security, from which he retired in 2017. If you ever wanted to know where a street was in town, you went to David. He enjoyed travel by jumping in his car and seeing where the road would take him. David enjoyed Sunday dinners or going out to breakfast with his family. He mostly enjoyed being “Grandpa.” He made it a point to be in their lives as much as possible and was willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He will truly be missed.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Jan 26 from 11am-2pm and 4pm-6pm at St. Joseph's Funeral home on Mayflower Rd., South Bend.
