Arthur W. Krojniewski

Arthur W. Krojniewski, 63, of Woodward Avenue in South Bend, Ind., passed away following a brief illness at 8:41 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, in his home. He was born on Sept. 6, 1939, to the late Walter and Verna (Karpinski) Krojniewski in South Bend, and was a lifelong resident. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Delores Cukrowicz.

On June 29, 1968, he married Carol A. Ludwig in South Bend. She died on Aug. 8, 1985.

Mr. Krojniewski retired in June 2000 from AM General after 26 years of service. He is survived by two daughters, Janet L.(fiance, Brandon Russell) Krojniewski of South Bend and Susan M. Krojniewski of Chicago, Ill.; one son, Steven M. (wife, Amanda Russell) Krojniewski of South Bend; two grandchildren, Gabrielle C. Russell and Zoe B. Russell; and by a sister, Joann Chrapliwy of South Bend.

Mr. Krojniewski was a member of the Polish National Alliance #83 Club and the St. Joseph Young Men’s Society. He was a 1958 graduate of Washington High School and served in the Army National Guard from 1957 to 1960. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, working around his yard, and gardening.Mr.Krojniewski was an avid NASCAR race fan, and most of all loved spending time with his two granddaughters.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
