Maxine A. Bilinski
January 6, 1941 ~ September 19, 2024 (age 83)
Maxine A. Bilinski, 83, of South Bend, Indiana passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, September 19, 2024 surrounded by her family, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Maxine was born on January 6, 1941 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Edward S. and Stella S. (Kopinski) Janowczyk. She is survived by her loving husband Thomas J. Bilinski, to whom she was happily married for 58 years. Tom often referred to Maxine as an angel, praising her selflessness and caring spirit. Upon her passing, he expressed, “She was truly an angel on earth, but I suppose all angels must return to heaven when called by God.”
Maxine is also survived by her daughter, Jodie (Greg) Crane of South Bend, Indiana, her son, Aaron (Naidne) Bilinski of Indianapolis, Indiana and her two beloved grandchildren, Emily and Mackenzie Crane.
Maxine attended St. Casimir grade school and was a 1958 graduate of Washington High School. She spent 10 years working at American Trust Bank and then worked in food service at Holy Family School for 18 years.
Known for her meticulously cared for home and landscaping, Maxine took great pride in cultivating a warm and welcoming environment for her family and friends. She also took pleasure in preparing traditional Polish meals for her loved ones, even if they might jokingly say she sometimes made a bit too much.
Maxine enjoyed spending afternoons watching daytime dramas and the heartwarming stories of the Hallmark channel. She was also a fan of Notre Dame football and the Chicago White Sox. However, Maxine’s greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever by those who loved her.
Maxine’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church with visitation from 9:30 to 11:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, also at Holy Family Church. A private burial will be held at a later date in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Caring Cove Hospice in Maxine’s honor. Online condolences may be left at www.kaniewski.com
