Edward Eugene Chrobot

August 18, 1926 - Feb. 5, 2017

SOUTH BEND, IN - Edward Eugene Chrobot was born in South Bend, IN in 1926 and died February 5, 2017 in LaGrange Park, IL.

He is survived by his close friend, Megan Buffington and preceded in death by his beloved parents, Rafal and Helen Chrobot, both of South Bend, formerly of Chicago and Poland.

Eddie was an avid football player and played for Washington High School before receiving a scholarship to Purdue University, and subsequently Oregon University. He starred in the 1948 Cotton Bowl for Oregon , later moving to Chicago, IL, where he became an investment adviser with Lehman Bros. He continued his football love affair by affiliating with Chicago Bears management, helping with the Chicago High School Football Hall of Fame, and the College Football Hall of Fame.

Eddie also served in the United States Army in the Phillipines during WW II.

He will be sorely missed by his many friends in South Bend and Chicago, especially on White Sox Opening Day where for many years he acted as a host for all of us.

A service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in South Bend on Friday, August 17, 2018, at 1pm, followed by a gathering at Pejza's Lydick Tavern in South Bend, 26444 W. Edison Rd., South Bend. Information @ 630-589-7364.
