Hattie Mae Myers Roundtree

SOUTH BEND - Hattie M. Roundtree, age 93, of South Bend, IN transitioned peacefully surrounded by her loving daughters on May 29, 2018. She was born on October 20, 1924 in Safety Harbor, FL from the union of the late Hattie (Williams) and Ed Myers Sr. Hattie is the eldest of four siblings. In 1930, the family relocated to South Bend, IN. Hattie attended Oliver Elementary and graduated from Washington High School in 1942. In 1985, Hattie retired from Uniroyal (Ball Band) after being gainfully employed for forty-three years.

Hattie married Leonard Roundtree and to this union three daughters were born: Lynn, Rebecca, and Nancy. A new home was built in 1952 where she resided. Hattie served as a long time member and deaconess at Grace A.M.E. Zion Church for many years.

Hattie leaves to cherish her loving memory three daughters, Lynn (Albert) Collier, Rebecca Roundtree, and Nancy (Bernie) Johnson all of South Bend; six grandchildren, Tavonia Donaldson, Adrienne Collier, Nailah Collier, Kamara Gathright, and Albert (Jay) Collier Jr. all of South Bend, and Zeb Gathright of Columbus, OH; 14 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mary Myers of North Carolina and Sylvia Myers; one aunt, Florida Maxwell; special cousin, Robert (Bobby) Johnson, all of South Bend, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, Hattie and Ed Myers; brothers, Edward A. Myers and William C. (Billie) Myers; and sister, Ruth E. Merriweather.

A special thank you to Desiree, Deb, and Pam of Heart to Heart Hospice, Memorial Hospital Patient Care staff, Trina and Kevia, 12th floor nurses, and Theresa Johnson.

Services for Mrs. Roundtree will be held at Grace A.M.E. Zion Church on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 12:00 p.m., with viewing one hour prior. Arrangements entrusted with ALFORD'S MORTUARY.
