South Bend - Thomas Michael Keres, (78) passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, In.

Tom was born in South Bend, Indiana on December 30, 1942 to the late Stephen and Clara (Gundeck) Keres. Upon graduation from Washington High School, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1966. Tom received numerous military decorations for his service. He went on to graduate from Indiana University (undergraduate) as well as the University of Redlands (graduate school) and spent his working career in the field of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering. He retired as a Project Engineer from Federal Express (Fed Ex) in 2008 but, continued to teach at Indiana University (School of Business and Economics) where he served as an Associate Faculty member from 1990 until 2016. Tom was also a member of the Marine Corps League as well as The Knights of Columbus. Tom is survived by his loving wife Christine (Hoffman) Keres who he married on May 17, 1969 in South Bend. Other survivors include his daughter, Tamara (Gary) Harless along with four grandchildren; Hannah and Halle Harless of Richmond, Virginia Christopher Harless of Baltimore, Maryland and Cody Harless of Elm, Texas. Additionally, there are other relatives and family members (brother and sister - in - laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.) Per Tom's wishes, cremation has already taken place and there will be no services.
