SOUTH BEND - Yvonne C. "Cookie" Kovatch, 66, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2009, at 1:01 p.m. in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Yvonne was born on September 10, 1942, in South Bend, to the late Albert and Angeline (Springer) Kantorowski. On June 12, 1976, she married Paul G. Kovatch, who passed away on April 21, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Albert "Pete" Kantorowski. She is survived by her four children, Cheryl Garza of South Bend, David (Marsha) Hudak of Granger, Jeffrey Hudak of South Bend and Steven Kovatch of South Bend; nine grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Yvonne worked for the South Bend School Corporation. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's National Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Friday, July 31, 2009, from 2 to 8 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, August 1, 2009, at 9 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. For those who are unable to attend the funeral liturgy, condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
