Nancy Ann Kominowski (Warren-Paliganoff)

Nancy A. Warren-Paliganoff

November 30, 1942 ~ October 8, 2026 (age 83)

Nancy Ann Warren-Paliganoff, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered the embrace of her Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 8, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clement and Marianne Kominowski, and her first husband, Stephen Warren, Jr., who now welcomes her into eternal life.

Life and Legacy: Nancy was born on November 30, 1942, in South Bend, Indiana, the community she called home for most of her life. Her faith took root at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, where she received the sacraments and, on May 25, 1963, married Steve. Together, they built a life centered on faith, love, and their five children. With quiet grace, quick wit, and remarkable resourcefulness, Nancy sewed her children’s clothes and worked as a secretary at the South Bend Box Company, the South Bend Airport, and Spin-Cast Plastic, Inc. Whatever their means, she poured her heart into giving her family the fullest and happiest life she could. The home Nancy and Steve created was rich in all that mattered most: faith, meals shared around the family table, flourishing vegetable and flower gardens, and the loving reminder that became the heart of their family: “Take care of each other!”

After Steve’s death, Nancy devoted herself to her children’s families and the friendships she treasured. She was a devoted presence at her grandchildren’s basketball and soccer games, school musicals, First Communions, and art shows; when she could not be there in person, the gentle clink of her crystal rosary accompanied the prayers she offered for her family each day. Her life was also filled with travels alongside her card-playing friends, rescuing a Thanksgiving dinner when the turkey was still frozen, and scootching across the kitchen floor on bath towels with her grandchildren. With more adventures and affection still to share, she married David Paliganoff on May 26, 2012. During their 14 years together, Nancy and David visited family, traveled to Paris and to Bermuda, and spent several winters in Florida. In recent years, they cherished weekly card games and dinners with her brother and sister-in-law—and, most of all, the simple joy of being together.

Nancy chose to live abundantly, embracing life’s simple blessings in every circumstance and sharing that gift with those she loved. Her joy in living drew her family together through generous hospitality, creativity, and cherished traditions. Nancy’s home was always welcoming, decorated for the season, and filled with everyone’s favorite treats—from her signature “Nana’s Carrot Cake,” pasta salad, and special potatoes to a freezer stocked with ice cream. Tradition mattered deeply to her, and she made sure her family knew their heritage and culture. They will always cherish memories of sharing OpÅ‚atek on Christmas Eve and enjoying pierogies and Polish sausage. Nancy expressed her creativity through painting and pastels and through her gifts as a seamstress and crafter. She crocheted warm afghans for many loved ones. Above all, through every season of life, she showed her family what it meant to care for one another.

Family: Nancy’s greatest joy was her family, and the love she gave so freely will remain in their hearts and in the countless memories they shared. Her warmth, faith, laughter, and steadfast devotion will be deeply missed by her husband, David Paliganoff; her brother, Donald (Barbara) Kominowski; her children, Deborah (Gregory) Williams, Victor (Karen Horton) Warren, Anita (Kevin) Schroeder, Aaron (Tuomas Lindstrom) Warren, and Angela (John) Lianez; her eleven grandchildren; and her seven great-grandchildren. Each carries forward a part of Nancy’s beautiful legacy and her enduring reminder to always take care of one another.
