Dennis Dale Hanyzewski

August 3, 1941 ~ November 22, 2025

Dennis Dale Hanyzewski, 84, a lifelong resident of South Bend passed away on Saturday November 22, 2025, at his home.

Dennis was born on August 3, 1941, in South Bend to the late Sally and Lucille (Szoka) Hanyzewski. He is survived by his brother Duane Hanyzewski (Laverne). Dennis was a graduate of Washington High School. On October 26, 1963, he married Beverly Rozek, sharing 61 years together before her passing earlier this year.  Together they have one daughter, Jill Hanyzewski, and her husband, Mark Dull, and grandson, Brandon. Dennis was employed as a forklift driver at Uniroyal, OTD Corporation and Corporate Services along with a few side jobs at his friend’s Marathon station and servicing inground pools before fully retiring in 2015.

Dennis had many hobbies over the years. He enjoyed playing pool, snowmobiling, and pitching horseshoes in both leagues and tournaments. He was also a lifelong avid auto racing fan at all levels which included being a mechanic for a friend, a “regular” spectator at the weekly races in the area, and faithfully watching NASCAR races. He was an active member of the Westside Conservation Club, the American Legion Post #284, the Army/Navy Club, and the St. Joseph Club.

Memorial mass will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2822 Corpus Christi Dr., South Bend, IN 46628.  There will be visitation with the family at the church one hour prior to the service. Immediately following, Dennis will be laid to rest at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend.
