April 25, 1940 ~ August 17, 2022 (age 82)

Manson Adam Davis, 82, of North Sheridan Street South Bend IN departed this life at 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday August 17, 2022 at home. He passed away with His loving & devoted wife, Clara, by his bedside.

Manson was born to the union of Lettie Mae (Brooks) Davis and Dave S. Davis on April 26, 1940 in Greenwood MS. On September10, 1966 in South Bend IN Manson was united in marriage to Clara Mae (Campbell) Davis who survives. He also leaves to cherish his loving memories one daughter Jacqueline Strickland of Indianapolis IN, one son Courtney Davis of South Bend, IN  Pamela Davis of Chicago IL, Mitchell Davis & Anthony (Benester) both of South Bend IN, one sister in law Jeanette Davis along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.

Manson was preceded in death by both parents Dave & Lettie Mae Davis, a son Diego Kellie Malczynski, one brother Otis Davis, two sisters Shirley (Frank) Morrell and Beatrice Dawson.

Manson attended Washington High School where he lettered in every sport he played and once fought an Orangutan at a carnival in South Bend IN. Two weeks before his graduation from Washington High School he was expelled by racially motivated people. 60 years later he received his Honorary High School Diploma after his sister in law Pamela Davis advocated by speaking with the South Bend School Authority regarding the unfair treatment and punishment.

Manson served his country in the United States Air Force and was Honorably Discharged. He later went to Welding School and held jobs at Studebaker, Allis-Chalmerz and AM General. He also coached his son little league baseball team and was on a bowling league for several years. He was also an active member of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

Manson will be remembered by many of us for many reasons but he will be remembered by all of us ad a man “who believed in family, no matter what.”

Services honoring the life, love, labor and legacy of Brother Davis will be held on Tuesday August 23, 2022, 1 PM at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 206 S. Falcon Street, South Bend, IN 46619. Reverend Larry W. Davidson will bring the word. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the services. Burial with military honors will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Arrangements have been lovingly entrusted with Alford’s Mortuary Inc.
