Julius T. Plonka, 80, passed away Friday, September 23, 2022 in the Ernestine M. Raclin House.

Julius was born December 17, 1941 in South Bend to the late Julius E. and Irene (Zakrzewski) Plonka. On October 28, 1961 he married his loving wife Natalie (Plencner) Plonka, she preceded him in death in 2010. He is also preceded in death by his two brothers, Delvin & David Plonka.

Left to cherish the memory of Julius are his children, Kevin (Annette)Plonka, South Bend, Kolleen Sobieralski, Mishawaka, Korinne (Danny) Walter, Grovertown, and Kristen (Ed. Jr. “Buzz”) Wesolowski, Walkerton; grandchildren, Nick, Kamden & Logan Plonka, Kayla (Spencer) Keen, Matt & Kenny Sobieralski, Cassie (Clay) Haynes, Amy (Mike) Meadway, Alex Walter, Justin (Ellsie) Wesolowski, Jake & Jacee Wesolowski,; great-grandchildren, Braxton, Liam, Kolin, Greg, Owen, Sophia, Kiara, Norah, Van Julius; and lady friend of 11 years, Barbara Squier.

Julius worked at Forbes Typewriter Company in high school and eventually became owner of Forbes Office Equipment, which he still operated until his death. He was a member of the St. Joseph Young Men’s Society, and the American Legion Post #357. Julius was a member of many clubs and organizations through his life. He was honored from the Achievement Forum with an Achiever Award in 1986.

The family sends their heartfelt appreciation to the 7th floor Staff at Memorial Hospital, especially Emily and Sara, and the Staff of the Center for Hospice Care.

Visitation will be 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Thursday, September, 29, 2022 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, Mayflower Rd. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:30am, Friday, September 30, 2022 in the funeral home chapel.
