Nancy K (Nevins) Turak
December 30, 1940 ~ September 10, 2026 (age 85)
Nancy K. (Nevins) Turak, 85 years old, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at her residence in South Bend.
Nancy was born on December 30, 1940 in Reelsville, IN to the late William W. and Dorothy L. (Butler) Nevins. On July 22, 1961, Nancy married the love of her life, John L. Turak, who preceded her in death in 2008. Along with her parents and loving husband of 47 years, Nancy is also preceded in death by her sister, Donna Duncan.
Left to cherish their memories of Nancy are her sons, John A. (Mila) Turak, Jeff A. (Deborah Fasnacht) Turak, and Joel A. (Beth) Turak; grandchildren, Jack Turak, Sam (Sydney Jonker) Turak, Carolyn (Johnie) Boone, Casey (Andy Pittman) Turak, Carley (Chase Weaver) Turak, Brayden Maxey, Chase Maxey, and Landon Maxey; great-grandchildren, Nova, Johnie and Duncan; her cousin, Diana Wilson; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Nancy lived a selfless life devoted to her family, grandchildren, and those around her. She generously gave of her time, volunteering with the Ronald McDonald House, and loved hosting holidays and family gatherings. She took a genuine interest in the lives of those she cared about and made every effort to be present for the important moments and events in their lives. Nancy was also very active and enjoyed cooking, shopping, line dancing, dancing at the American Legion, and golfing at Studebaker. She loved to read, adored her miniature dachshund (Brewster), and especially cherished her grandchildren. She rarely missed a sporting event, recital, or horse show if one of her grandchildren were involved, always proudly cheering them on. Nancy had a love for horses and shared that passion with her granddaughters; she even had a horse of her own (Posey). Above all, Nancy found joy in creating cherished memories and sharing the things she loved with the people who meant the most to her.
There will be a Celebration of Life held by the family at a later date. St. Joseph Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
