Marcia Ann (Szymanski) Wawrzyniak
December 1, 1939 ~ June 7, 2024 (age 84)
Marcia A. Wawrzyniak, 84, of South Bend, passed away on Friday June 7, 2024 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born on December 1, 1939, in South Bend, to the late Joseph William and Pauline (Kot) Szymanski.
On May 6, 1961, she married Edward J. Wawrzyniak, who survives. He was the love of her life and her rock. Marcia is also survived by her daughter, Lisa (John) Vanderbosch and her son, Jon (Linda) Wawrzyniak, both of South Bend, four grandchildren, Erin (Andrew) Oshesky, Chad (Emily) Vanderbosch, Jordan (Matthew) Dooley, Nicolas (Allie) Wawrzyniak, her brother, James (Claudia) Szymanski of The Woodlands, TX and four great-grandsons, Carson, Noah, Shepherd and Bosch, as well as many extended family members.
Marcia was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and the F.O.P. #36 Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed playing cards and games with her family and friends, working in her garden at home and loved to travel and spend winters in Florida with her close friends. She was an excellent cook and made the best crock dill pickles. Her soups, pierogis and baked goods were always enjoyed by all. Marcia was also a Stenographer when she was younger and later worked for the South Bend School Corporation and the University of Notre Dame Burke Golf Course. She loved to play golf and was a member of Bowlers Country Club. She was very competitive with her golf game and was always ready to go out to the course to see if she could hit one long and straight. She loved her family very much. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She enjoyed going to many of her grandchildren’s baseball, basketball & football games, as well as dance recitals over the years.
Visitation will be from 10 to noon on June 18, 2024 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive in South Bend. A funeral service will follow at noon in the funeral home.
