DEADLY VIRUS SOUGHT SOUTH BEND, Ind. Laboratory tests are being conducted in an effort to determine what type virus caused the death of 18-year-old Sharon Ann Baumgartner, of near South Bend. Her physician said that the Monday death is attributed to a rare type of encephalitis, or sleeping sickness, but that the virus is difficult to isolate and the test results may not be known for several weeks.
