James Andrew Zurawski
May 19, 1945 ~ April 20, 2026
James Andrew Zurawski, age 80, passed away on April 20, 2026, after a courageous battle with a rare form of blood cancer.
Born on May 19, 1945, James was the son of the late Andres and Helen (Wantuch) Zurawski. He was raised in South Bend, Indiana, where he developed a strong appreciation for family, community, and the simple joys of life. James was the father of Brian James Rose (Zurawski). He graduated from South Bend Washington High School in 1963.
James proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War era and was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. Following his military service, he dedicated his professional career to public service through the United States Department of the Treasury, from which he retired after many years of service.
Throughout his life, James found happiness in activities that brought people together. He enjoyed dancing, especially the polka, and spending time fishing in the Washington, D.C. area. He cherished the time he spent with his parents and his son during his younger years, creating memories that would remain meaningful throughout his life.
James also had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and found peace in nature. Whether enjoying a quiet day by the water or taking in the beauty of the natural world, he valued life's simple pleasures and the sense of calm they provided.
He will be remembered for his service to his country, his dedication to public service, his love of family, his appreciation of nature, and the many moments of joy he shared with those who knew him.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Helen (Wantuch) Zurawski.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
