Esperanza "Hope" (Bueno) Rodriguez 

Esperanza “Hope” Bueno (Rodriguez), passed away on June 24, 2026, with all her loving family by her side. She was born February 24, 1944, in McAllen, Texas, to Federico and Consuelo (Vela) Rodriguez,. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother aka Bala, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be remembered for the love she poured into her family, her warmth toward all who knew her, and the many simple, beautiful ways she made a house feel like home.

On August 26, 1967, Hope married her longtime sweetheart, Fidencio “Felix” Bueno Sr., in South Bend, Indiana. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, devotion, and lasting love. Hope and Felix shared nearly 59 years of marriage, creating a legacy that will continue through their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know them.

Hope found joy in caring for those around her. She loved gardening, baking, cooking, reading, crossword puzzles and making fresh tortillas daily for her family. She also enjoyed mystery shows, Hallmark movies, music, and dancing. Her kitchen, her garden, and her presence were places of comfort, laughter, and love.

Hope and her family were longtime parishioners of St. Matthew Cathedral. Her faith and devotion were an important part of her life, and she shared her love generously with family, friends, and her community.

Hope was preceded in death by her parents, Federico and Consuelo Rodriguez; and by her siblings Dominga Olivarez, Feliz Rodriguez, Simon Rodriguez Sr., and Guadalupe Rodriguez.

She is survived by her loving husband, Fidencio “Felix” Bueno Sr.; her five children, Fidencio “Felix” (Susannah) Bueno Jr., Elida (Richard) Gonzalez, Erlinda (Jose Caballero) Bueno-Singleton, Federico (Sandra) Bueno, and Esperanza “Hopey” (Genessis) Quezada; her grandchildren, Emiliano Moreno, Juan (Jessica) Moreno, Patricio Moreno, Esteban Singleton, Shane Singleton, Gabriela Moreno, Kiara Bueno, Ariana Bueno, Rachel Bueno, Codi Singleton, Josiah Bueno-Caballero, Benjamin Bueno, Gianna Quezada, Alia Quezada, and Kaia Quezada; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings, Federico (Angelica) Rodriguez Jr., Berta (Benito) Salazar, and Jesusa (Miguel) Bueno, along with many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.

Hope’s memory will live on in the meals she lovingly prepared, the flowers she tended, the music she enjoyed, the faith she cherished, and the deep love she gave so freely. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

A visitation service for Hope will be held Sunday, June 28, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 29, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami Street, South Bend, IN. Burial will immediately follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
