Dennis Ernest Horvath

November 28, 1945 — March 26, 2025

Dennis Ernest Horvath, 79 of Elkhart, IN passed away on March 26, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. Dennis was born on November 28, 1945 in South Bend, IN to Dennis and Elsie Horvath. He met Barbara Budny on Christmas Eve at Barbara grandma's house and on November 25, 1971, at St. Adalberts Catholic Church in South Bend, IN they were married on Thanksgiving Day.

Dennis graduated from Washington High School in South Bend, IN. He began his career working for his father at Horvath Grocery Store in South Bend, IN as a meat cutter. For many years, he was the meat cutter at Doc Pierce's Restaurant in Mishawaka, IN. He retired as a meat cutter from Meijer. Dennis enjoyed working in his garden and doing yard work. He loved to spend time with his family, especially cooking Sunday dinners or trying out new recipes. He loved watching the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Horvath, their children Carrie (Eric) Sommer of Elkhart, IN and Dennis (Brittney) Horvath of Westerville, OH; grandchildren Jacob Sommer, Gavin Sommer, Kyle Sommer, Colin Horvath and Olivia Horvath; siblings Don Horvath, and Mary Beth (Jose) Hernandez; sister-in-law Sharon Horvath and several nieces and nephews. Dennis is preceded in death by his parents Dennis and Elsie Horvath, brother Ron Horvath and sister-in-law Cindy Horvath.

A mass of Christian Burial will be at 6 pm on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at St. Mary's of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 411 West Vistula Street, Bristol, IN 46507.
