SOUTH BEND - Mr. Matthew Charles Lewis, III, 50, of North Edison Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died at 7 p.m. on Wednes-day, Oct. 21, 1998.
He was born on April 6, 1948, to the union of Mat-thew C. and Jeanette D. (Galloway) Lewis, Jr. His father preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles Galloway.
He graduated from Washington High School in 1967 and served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1971. He was a former employee of the Bendix Corporation and was presently employed with the South Bend School Corporation.
Mr. Lewis was united in holy matrimony to Leitha M. Dotson on June 8, 1974, in South Bend.
He is survived by his loving wife, Leitha M. Lewis; a son, Bill L. Dotson; a daughter, Raquel L. (Otis) Hall; his mother, Jeanette E. Lewis; three sisters, Cora (Preston) Johnson, Diana Lewis and Merrie (Lawrence) Minor; a brother, Raymond E. Lewis; a grandmother, Margaret Galloway, all of South Bend; and by a host of aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the New Bethel Tabernacle Church, with burial following at Highland Cemetery.
Visitation will occur from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday at Alford's Mortuary.
Alford's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
