MISHAWAKA - William Edward Horvath, 61, passed unexpectedly of apparent natural causes only hours after returning to China for work following a visit home here with family and friends for Thanksgiving.


On June 26, 1949, in South Bend, Bill was born to the late George Louis and Margaret (Golba) Horvath. Bill was married to (Liu) Yan on December 19, 2009, in Mishawaka. She survives of Mishawaka. Other survivors include his children, Jennifer (Robb) Berger of South Bend, Sarah Dawson of Granger, Ashleigh (Justin) Klatt of Mishawaka, Elaine Horvath of South Bend, Elizabeth Horvath of Mishawaka; siblings, George (Adeline) Horvath of South Bend, Nancy (Lee) Harbeson of Charleston, SC, Kathy (Herb) Pellow of South Bend; nine grandchildren, Alexis, Robbie, Savannah, Cassee, Gabriel, Ryleigh, Addison, Jaiden and Brooklyn.


Mr. Horvath was employed as a project manager for Yutong Company in Zhengzhou, Peoples Republic of China, in the RV industry. He had previously worked in the same industry in the Elkhart area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger, and the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Mishawaka Council #1878. Bill loved traveling.


Visitation will be from 5-6:30 p.m. followed by Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m., both on Thursday in McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23 (enter off Cherry Road), Msgr. William Schooler, Pastor of St. Pius X parish, officiating. Bill's remains were cremated in China and his ashes will be returned here for burial later next summer.


In lieu of flowers, the family would like to encourage memorial donations to honor Bill's memory be made to Memorial Children's Hospital, 615 N. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46601.
