SOUTH BEND - Roman J. Radecki, 95, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 3:20 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Briarcliff Health and Rehabilitation of South Bend.

He was born on August 4, 1922 to the late John and Catherine (Przybyla) Radecki in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with his parents; he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Chrzan, Theresa Chrzan, Genevieve Luc, Lucy Radecki, Florence Radecki, Clara Hanyzewski, and Regina Fozo; and his brothers, Sylvester, Edward, and Eugene Radecki.

Roman graduated from Washington High School, before becoming a member of the U.S. Coast Guard, where he was active from 1942-1945.

He retired on August 8, 1986 from the Bendix Corporation, where he worked as a Press Operator for over 32 years.

On June 25, 1949, he married Dorothy M. Skandis at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in South Bend, IN.

Roman is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy M. Radecki of South Bend, IN; a daughter, Barbara A. Radecki of South Bend, IN; a son, Paul (Linda) Radecki of South Bend, IN; three grandchildren, Ryan (Beth) Radecki of Carmel, IN; Heather (Mike) Quiroz of South Bend, IN; Nick Radecki of South Bend, IN; five great-grandchildren, Myka and Jack Radecki, both of Carmel, IN; Claire and Lauren Quiroz, both of South Bend, IN; and Abby Radecki of South Bend, IN. Roman is also survived by several nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.

Roman was a member of Holy Family Parish and St. Joseph Young Men's Society. He loved big band music, dancing, fishing, bowling, and taking care of his yard. Roman absolutely adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs Fan.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 20, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Rev. Glenn Kohrman officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, where Military Honors will be conducted.
