Erick Maurice Chambliss

SOUTH BEND - Erick Maurice Chambliss, 52, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 28, 2017, due to natural causes. Erick was born May 25, 1965, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. Erick was the grandson of Henry Robert Chambliss (deceased) and Emma (Redding) Chambliss (deceased). Erick was the son of Larry Chambliss (deceased) and Everzine Chambliss. Erick was a beloved brother to Talisa Chambliss-Harris and Trent Chambliss (Cheryl). Erick is survived by his son, Ethan Reid Chambliss (Mother Michelle Holmes), his Uncle, Richard Chambliss (Hattie).

Preceded in death by his uncles and aunts, Robert H. Chambliss, George Chambliss, Julius Chambliss, Charles M. Chambliss, Richard Chambliss, Larry Chambliss, Leroy Chambliss, Maxine Chambliss, Louvenia Chambliss, Annie P. Chambliss, Brenda Chambliss and Bridgette Chambliss.

Erick's four surviving nephews: David Jamar Harris Sr. (Kiauna), Indianapolis, IN, Tyler Re'Shawn Chambliss, Indianapolis, IN, William Travis Sanders, South Bend, IN, Trinidad Jay Chambliss, Grand Rapids, MI; a great-niece, Maya Jada Chambliss (Tyler), and great-nephew, David Jamar Harris Jr. (David, Sr.), both from Indianapolis, IN; and a host of extended family and friends, along with his longtime special friends, Cindy Mann (Hannah) and Kyle Holt.

Erick graduated with honors from South Bend Washington High School in 1984 and was a 3-year Letterman on the varsity basketball team. Erick attended Iowa State University. He also served in the United States Navy stationed in San Diego, California. Erick had a career in carpentry work in the Greater South Bend Area. Erick also served as a mentor in the Family Children Center. Erick enjoyed volunteering as a Cass County Four-H Fair helper. Erick enjoyed spending time with family and friends in his leisure time and attending the University of Notre Dame's football game festivities. Erick was a kindhearted person who was willing to do anything for others. He always had a smile on his face and positive approach on life. Erick was a gentleman, caring and compassionate person, who truly cared about people.

Services for Erick M. Chambliss: Visitation will take place from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, funeral will begin at 12:00 pm Friday, October 6th, 2017, at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1862 N. Olive St., South Bend, IN.
