SOUTH BEND - Charlie Joseph Phillips-Shurn “C.J.” of South Bend, IN, departed this life on March 15, 2017.

Charlie was born March 23, 1970, to Gwendolyn L. Williams (Phillips) and Charlie Joe Shurn. Charlie attended Washington High School in South Bend, and spent many years as a production laborer. Charlie loved to work on cars and doing house renovations.

Charlie leaves to cherish his memory his four children, Jasmine Phillips, Charles Smallwood, Paige Phillips, all of South Bend, IN, and Caleb Phillips of Elkhart, IN; three grandchildren, Brielle Phillips, Anikha Smallwood and Shelley Smallwood. His mother, Gwendolyn L. Williams (Phillips), his father, Charlie Joe Shurn. Three brothers, Kemonte Ross and Antonio Williams of South Bend, and Everett “Ryan” Williams of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Heather Williams of South Bend.

Services for C.J. will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Alford's Mortuary. Viewing at 11:00 a.m. and Service at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in C.J.'s name to ALFORD'S MORTUARY.
