To her numerous nieces and nephews she will always be “Aunt Ruth.”

Ruth and was a 1939 graduate of Washington (IN) High School, where she was a member of the girls' basketball team. After graduation she was inducted into Beta Sigma Phi-international women's social, cultural and service organization.

Over the years Ruth picked up golf and became a champion league bowler. She loved watching all sports and during their winter trips to Florida, Ruth and Phil spent many afternoons attending baseball training games.

Ruth was a lifelong learner and her family and friends often sought her advice on every practical matter from sewing to car repair. She was a gifted seamstress adjusting patterns with the precision of an engineer; designing amazing pieces including doll clothes, costumes, school clothing and wedding gowns.

Following yet another passion, Ruth earned her Indiana Cosmetology License through The House of James, where she was an instructor for several years.

Her husband's career required several moves through Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa and Pennsylvania. She was an expert at organizing the family's household and never hesitated to become an integral part of each community, making lifelong friendships with every move. As Phil's administrative assistant, Ruth was the first person you met in their office and she never forgot a client's name.
